Tamil superstar TVK Chief Vijay is facing a police complaint after allegations emerged that his recently organized Iftar event in Chennai was disrespectful to the Muslim community. The complaint was filed by the Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath at the Chennai Police Commissioner’s Office, sparking a wave of online discussion and community concerns.

According to a report by News18, the complaint centers around the presence of individuals allegedly described as “drunkards and rowdies” at the religious gathering, which took place last Friday at the Royapettah YMCA Grounds. The religious organization claims the inclusion of such guests disrespected the sanctity of Ramadan and insulted Muslim sentiments.

Allegations Made by Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath

Syed Kous, treasurer of Tamil Nadu Sunnat Jamath, spoke to the media, expressing the group’s deep disappointment.

“Muslims were insulted at the Iftar program organised by Vijay. We believe the participation of drunkards and rowdies who had nothing to do with fasting or Iftar has insulted Muslims,” he said.

He further alleged that the event was conducted in a “hurtful and disrespectful manner,” criticizing the actor for not issuing any apology or acknowledgment of the community’s concerns.
Syed also raised serious concerns about the conduct of Vijay’s private security team, stating:

“The foreign guards treated people like cows.”

The complaint mentions a lack of proper event arrangements, crowd mismanagement, and inappropriate treatment of attendees. Syed clarified that this was not a publicity stunt but a sincere call for accountability.

“Legal action should be taken against Vijay to ensure this does not happen again,” he added.

Viral Iftar Moments on Social Media

Despite the controversy, photos and videos from the event have been widely circulated on social media, showing Vijay wearing a skull cap, joining the community in prayers, and breaking the fast alongside Muslim attendees. While many fans praised his gesture, others have raised concerns about the planning and execution of the event.

Vijay’s Political Aspirations Add Pressure

This incident comes at a critical time for Vijay, who recently confirmed that he will not sign any more films after the release of “Jana Nayagan,” directed by H. Vinoth. The actor is expected to enter Tamil Nadu politics ahead of the 2026 elections, adding further public scrutiny to his actions.

On the professional front, Vijay was last seen in “The GOAT”, directed by Venkat Prabhu, and is currently wrapping up work on Jana Nayagan.

Community Reactions Mixed

Public opinion remains divided. While many defend Vijay’s intent behind organizing the Iftar, others stress that sensitivity and appropriate planning are essential when hosting events related to faith and culture.

As of now, there has been no official statement from Vijay or his team regarding the police complaint.
