The political fight between the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has become more intense. The BJP accused Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal of spending too much public money to renovate his official home during the pandemic, calling it a “Sheeshmahal” (glass palace). They based their claims on a report by the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG). In response, AAP leaders invited journalists to see the residence and prove the BJP’s accusations wrong.

AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Saurabh Bharadwaj, along with reporters, were stopped by the police, which led to accusations of unfair treatment and censorship. Singh said the BJP’s claims about golden toilets and minibars were false and asked for the truth to be shown. “If the BJP is telling the truth, let everyone inside to see for themselves,” Singh said. However, they were not allowed to enter, which made the conflict between the two parties even worse.

The situation got worse when AAP leaders said they wanted to visit the Prime Minister’s house, arguing that the BJP’s criticism was unfair because of the reported high costs of renovating the PM’s residence. They were stopped again, which made AAP even more upset and led them to accuse the BJP of having double standards. BJP leaders, including Prime Minister Modi, accused AAP of focusing on luxury projects instead of helping people during the pandemic.

At the same time, BJP spokespeople strongly criticized AAP’s way of doing politics. They pointed out that Kejriwal had earlier promised simple and honest governance, but now his party was involved in controversies. BJP’s Pradeep Bhandari called AAP’s actions a desperate move to distract people, while Sudhanshu Trivedi said it showed AAP’s supposed tendency to create chaos.

The CAG report, mentioned by the BJP, showed that the renovation of the bungalow cost much more than planned, with expenses reportedly increasing four times the original budget. This issue has become a major point of conflict in Delhi’s politics, as both parties are using it to gain an advantage before the next elections.

Kejriwal’s party is standing firm, rejecting the accusations and claiming that the BJP is spreading false information. They say the opposition is more interested in attacking them than solving important governance problems. The debate is still attracting public attention and has become a key topic in Delhi’s political discussions.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Chief Minister’s official residence remains empty, as Kejriwal resigned after getting bail in a corruption case. He says his return to office depends on the support of the public.

This political drama highlights the strong divisions and high stakes in Delhi’s governance, with both AAP and BJP competing to win public opinion and gain an edge in the elections.
