In a significant development, playschools operating in Delhi are set to undergo mandatory registration with the Delhi government’s Department of Women and Child Development. This decision stems from concerns raised during a meeting between the department, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), and the Delhi Education Department regarding non-compliance with established norms by several playschools in the national capital.

Sources reveal that the NCPCR highlighted various shortcomings in the current operations of playschools during the meeting. The Women and Child Development Department of the Delhi government was made aware of instances where certain playschools were not adhering to prescribed norms.

“Some parents are enrolling their children in playschools as early as the age of two, a clear violation of child rights norms. Consequently, playschools across the national capital will be required to register with the Delhi government,” stated an official source.

To streamline this registration process, the department plans to soon upload the application form on its official website. The associated link will be disseminated through advertisements, providing clear directives on playschool operations. This proactive move aims to bring playschools in line with established regulations, ensuring a more standardized and regulated environment for young learners.

As Delhi takes steps towards enhanced child safety and compliance in playschools, this mandatory registration process is poised to contribute to the overall well-being and proper development of children in their early learning years. Parents, educators, and stakeholders can anticipate a more regulated and accountable playschool landscape, fostering a secure and conducive environment for the city’s youngest learners.
