John Kirby, the White House national security communications adviser, addressed these concerns during a press conference on Wednesday. He emphasized that President Biden made it clear that he remains deeply worried about the security and safety of Bangladeshi citizens and the stability of their democratic framework.

Although the White House statement issued after the August 26 call did not explicitly mention Bangladesh, PM Modi’s X post and a statement from his office confirmed the discussion of the situation there. Both leaders expressed their joint concern over recent developments in Bangladesh.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) highlighted that Biden and Modi stressed the importance of restoring law and order and ensuring the safety of minorities, with a particular focus on Hindus. This indicates a strong commitment from both leaders to address these pressing issues.

In his post on X, PM Modi reiterated their discussion on Bangladesh, underscoring the urgency for the restoration of normalcy and the protection of minority communities. He echoed the call for ensuring safety and security for all affected groups in the country.

The conversation between the two leaders reflects a broader international concern over the current situation in Bangladesh. Both the US and India are closely monitoring developments and advocating for measures that will stabilize the region and protect its diverse populations.

As global leaders, Biden and Modi’s joint stance on this issue demonstrates a collaborative approach to international concerns. Their dialogue emphasizes the importance of upholding democratic values and safeguarding human rights.

The ongoing attention to Bangladesh from prominent international figures highlights the global stakes involved and the collective responsibility to address and resolve these complex issues.
