According to reports, five children were hospitalised due to food poisoning after eating from the hotel in the early hours of Sunday morning.
After six people of two families fell ill on consuming food from the noted Buhari Hotel in Thiruvananthapuram, health department officials of the Corporation have ordered the outlet to be shut down.
According to reports, five children were hospitalised due to food poisoning after eating food from the hotel at Attakulangara in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The health department officials of Thiruvananthapuram Corporation cancelled the licence of the hotel and ordered to shut it down, reports the Times of India.
As per the reports, complainant Anas S and families had consumed dosa, chicken roast and mutton gravy by around 4 am. The restaurant is famous for being open during the wee hours of the day.
Children who ate the food immediately fell ill and complained of stomach ache, while Anas’s wife vomited after consuming the food. The persons underwent treatment following the incident at the General Hospital in Thiruvananthapuram.
As per the report, though Anas complained about the food to the hotel staff, they ignored the complaint. Outraged by the incident, Anas put a Facebook live of the incident and informed the police about the incident.
A per the report, Anas said that police officers replied to his complaint that the issue will be looked into by the food safety department officials.
The families created a commotion at the hotel following the incident. Though the hotel staff tried to take back the ordered food, the complainants made sure that they didn’t until health officials reached the spot.
The health department officials who reached the spot after getting complaints, collected samples of the food which was ordered by the families. According to the report, Health inspector Gopakumar stated that the food smelled stale. The food samples have been sent to the laboratory of food safety wing for testing.
As per reports, in last June as well, health department officials had seized stale food from the restaurant.
