Modi Backs Bill to Remove Arrested Ministers, Targets Congress, RJD

Modi supports new law to remove arrested ministers, warns against infiltrators, and criticizes Congress and RJD for corruption.

In Bihar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi commented for the first time on the proposed Bill to remove ministers facing allegations of corruption or serious offences. The law would apply to any Central or State Minister detained for at least 30 days. Modi said it is unacceptable for a Chief Minister or minister to sit in jail and still sign government files.

“If a small government employee is suspended after 50 hours of detention, why can a CM or minister continue to approve files from jail? This must change,” Modi said. He added that the law would be strict and even the Prime Minister would not be exempt. Modi accused the Congress and RJD of opposing the legislation out of fear, saying, “Those out on bail or facing court cases are angry because they know their wrongdoings.”

Modi also raised concerns about illegal infiltrators in Bihar, stating that the government would not allow them to take away jobs or rights meant for local youth. “We have announced the Demography Mission. Every illegal infiltrator will be identified and removed,” he said.

During his visit to Gaya, marked by infrastructure inaugurations and welfare announcements worth over ₹13,000 crore, Modi criticized past regimes for corruption, neglect, and vote-bank politics. He contrasted the current NDA government with the previous “lantern era,” saying Bihar had suffered from darkness, lack of education, jobs, and forced migration.

Modi also targeted corruption, claiming that earlier governments used public funds for personal gain. “Delays in project execution were a way to make money. We have changed that mindset,” he said, emphasizing that the NDA government focuses on empowering the poor while opposition parties protect vote banks and shield corruption.

The Prime Minister’s remarks underline his commitment to clean governance, stricter accountability for ministers, and protection of Bihar’s rights and development.
