The Indian Institute of Technology BHU (IIT BHU) offers a range of scholarships annually to support deserving undergraduate students. These financial aids include both college fee concessions and direct benefit transfers to students’ bank accounts.
1. Merit-cum-Means Institute Scholarship: This scholarship is awarded to 25% of undergraduate students based on merit and financial need. Additional endowment scholarships and benefits are available, including Institute studentships, mess charge reimbursements, and pocket allowances for SC and ST students. Non-sponsored MTech/MPharm students receive financial assistance comparable to Junior Research Fellowships, while PhD candidates can access numerous Junior/Senior Research Fellowships.
2. Scholarships for BTech/BPharm/IDD and IMD: The institute provides merit-cum-means scholarships to students in these programs, enhancing accessibility and support.
Top Class Education Scheme for SC Students: This scheme is implemented through the National Scholarship Portal (NSP). To apply, students must have an Aadhaar number linked to their bank account. Queries can be directed to dbtcell.msje@nic.in. Students must register on NSP, complete the common application form, and provide caste and income certificates for verification.
3. National Fellowship and Scholarship for Higher Education of ST Students: Formerly known as the Rajiv Gandhi National Fellowship, this scholarship supports ST students pursuing higher education.
4. State Scholarships (Pratibha Scholarships): These state-level scholarships are available for eligible students, providing additional financial support.
5. Endowment Scholarships (N C Jain Scholarship): This scholarship is specifically for first-year BTech/IDD/IMD students.
6. Previous Scholarships: IIT BHU provides various historical scholarships and fellowships, including those from the Cognizant Foundation, BHU Alumni Association Mumbai, and the Foundation for Academic Excellence and Access. The Aadhaar Card is mandatory for government subsidies and scholarships from the 2016-17 financial year onwards.
