DU’s Republic Day Gesture: Special Chance for Parade Participants to Take Missed Exams

Delhi University has extended a noteworthy gesture to its students participating in the Republic Day parade, offering them a ‘special chance’ to sit for missed exams. The announcement was made by an official on Thursday, outlining the university’s commitment to accommodating the academic needs of students involved in national events.

According to the official, the university is considering a similar relaxation for students who represent Delhi University at national and international sports events, including prestigious platforms like the Olympics.

Final-year students, particularly those part of the Delhi contingent of the National Cadet Corps (NCC), who will be marching at the Kartavya Path on January 26, will benefit from this opportunity. The move aims to ensure that their academic year progresses seamlessly, allowing them to receive their degrees on time. OSD examination Ajay Arora emphasized the importance of providing students with a chance to participate in events beyond the classroom, fostering experiential learning and instilling a sense of nationalism.

The university is contemplating extending this opportunity to first and second-year students participating in the Republic Day parade, depending on the number of students requiring the relaxation. A dedicated datesheet for these special exams will be released soon, ensuring they align with the students’ schedules to prevent clashes with other papers.

“We want to encourage students to learn from experiences beyond the classroom teaching. For that, it is important that they participate in such events and gain exposure. This will also help to instil a sense of nationalism in young minds,” commented Ajay Arora.

This year’s NCC Republic Day march past will witness the participation of 2,274 cadets, including those representing Delhi University in the Delhi Contingent. Notably, the parade will feature a record number of 907 girl cadets, showcasing the university’s commitment to inclusivity and participation.
